Cantonese is a dialect spoken in Canton (Guangdong) province of China. It is spoken only in family and among friends. On official occasions (such as in schools and in businesses), people speaks in the national official language, which is Mandarin.
Cantonese is also widely spoken by Chinese people in Hong Kong, although Mandarin is becoming more and more popular.
